Identifying the Slowest Steps in a Page

  • Once you have identified the slowest web pages, how do you identify the slow steps within the pages?

  • Make a note of a couple of the slowest pages and then, within the navigation panel, change the Analysis Mode to “All Steps”.

  • This will instruct StressTester™ to not use total web page load times when calculating values, but instead use every individual application response time (images, style sheets, etc.) to calculate displayed graphs and values.

  • Within the Steps window of the navigation panel, scroll down until you see the web page you noted and then select its node (which in turn will expand it and select all the steps within the page).

  • Click Show Results and you will now see the graphs and data tables displaying information about only the steps in the page(s) you selected.

  • You can now easily identify the slowest requests in the page.
