Create a Test Run Configuration
-
First, if you have not already watch the video on this page, within StressTester™ choose Help -> Tutorials (online) and watch the Create a Test Run Configuration tutorial.
-
The goal of our Test Run Configuration will be to ramp the one User Journey you have created from 1 to 5 simulated users (as this is a restriction on the Trial license you are probably using), over a period of 2 minutes, and then run the test for as long as your license allows (10 cycles per simulated user for the Trial license) or until you manually stop it.
-
All load will be generated using the LocalInjector which is always running alongside the StressTester™ GUI on your local machine.
-
Start the wizard as described above and, after reading the introduction text, click the ‘Next’ button.
-
Give your configuration a name and choose the application your User Journey belongs to. If you like, enter a description for the configuration.
-
Choose ‘Ramping load’ and click ‘Next’.
-
Select the User Journey you have created and click ‘Next’.
-
Select the LocalInjector, chose to distribute the load evenly between Injectors with a starting load of 0 users and a maximum of 5 users and then click ‘Next’.
-
Set the ramp period to 2 minutes (this is the time after which the peak load of 5 users will be achieved). Leave 100% of the load on the User Journey you selected (if you had selected more than one User Journey you could split the load at this point).
-
If you click the ‘View Load Profile’ button, you will see a graph showing that your configuration will start at 0 users and will ramp so that the peak of 5 users is obtained after 2 minutes.
-
Close the graph window and then click ‘Next’.
-
Leave the default setting that the test will run forever and click ‘Next’.
-
As you have yet to configure any monitoring configurations, there is nothing to select in the next screen so click ‘Next’ to proceed.
-
Finally click ‘Finish’ and StressTester™ will create the Test Run Configuration and select it within the StressTester™ GUI so you can check the details you entered.
- If you are using a Trial license you will notice that StressTester™ has set the number of cycles for the User Journey to be 10; this is a limit for this type of license.
